We gathered some old tapes and "repurposed" them to help artists who want their voice to be heard. What these artists have in common is their unsubstantiated artistry. Their inspiration reaches far beyond what record labels and recording studios can obtain.
One artist states:
"It is just so difficult. Most record companies don't want to meet an unestablished musician, and the studio charges way too much. I am a musician, and I am very talented. I have a very profound vision but there's no way I can make it solid."
It is very evident that the music industry has changed. Vastly the shift to mp3s and iTunes, many are struggling to invest in studio time. He continues:
"These days you have to have something recorded and put it up on a site like myspace. It is great if you have a great team to put it together and record in the studio, and many times the studio engineer doesn't put much effort or have the vision as I do. But that's a lot of money to put on a demo that record companies won't even listen to. I've done various shows, it pays up for the studio time. But at the same time it is very time consuming. While I do love to perform, ultimately I would like results, i.e. for people to hear my talent."
Many artists are in the same boat, and many times they are frustrated being pushed around by corporate record labels. They want their voices to be heard, and for the people decide for themselves what is a good song.
Every season, PaperTape is ought to find new artists who wants to captivate their trailblazing artistry. With vast knowledge and commendable awards, we are revolutionizing what it is to be an artist by putting their hard work together for it to be seen, heard, and touched. We start with a paper and tape.
